Research
Research, alongside teaching and learning, is a core activity of Curtin Engineering and is now being conducted by most of our academic staff. This broad engagement is the hallmark of a mature university faculty - it underpins a unifying culture of scholarship and provides a research stability that is robust to internal and external changes.
Curtin Engineering's research portfolio is sustainable. We incorporates a range of discipline areas and utilise the right mix of expertise in theoretical, computational and experimental approaches. Both longstanding and emerging areas of research are considered ensuring a long-term viability, potential to grow and ability to expand into emerging research areas.
Engineering PavillionWe believe that whilst the conduct of research can be satisfying, it also requires substantial effort. This is a combination of experience, maintenance of currency in the research area, dedication to the pursuit or passion and the attainment of new knowledge. Research achievements contribute strongly to the reputation, status and recognition (locally, nationally and internationally) of Curtin Engineering and Curtin University and thereby enhance our future.
We therefore recognise, appreciate and congratulate all of our academic staff who are research-active. We also recognise the contributions of our staff who focus their endeavours to support our teaching programs. This too is an essential contribution to the research effort of Curtin Engineering. Since Research, Teaching and Learning proceed alongside each other, Curtin Engineering also recognises and applauds the general staff - secretarial, administrative and technical - who so effectively support the above three core academic activities of Curtin Engineering.
